Accelerating Time to Market: Project Delivery with Connected Project Management
We stopped updating project statuses.
Sure, the main goal of project management is a successful outcome. But think of it like flying business class vs. economy: the result — landing at your destination — is the same, yet the experience couldn’t be more different. Projects work the same way. Getting great results matters — but the journey itself could be enjoyable too.
At some point, we tried to look at our projects through the client’s eyes and asked ourselves: what really makes the process comfortable?
This is what came up:
- Confidence – I’m calm knowing the result will be excellent.
- Direction – I understand what tasks I need to do on my side.
- Care – I feel supported at every step.
With these expectations in mind, we upgraded our project management system to ReqOrder. And here’s what changed.
Real-time plan
- Before: the project plan was maintained separately and updated once a week so the client could keep track of progress.
- Now: the plan is always up to date and available in real time in ReqOrder.
One shared project space
- Before: specifications, technical requirements, meeting minutes, instructions, and other project artifacts were maintained in Word or Excel and uploaded to cloud storage as they were updated.
- Now: the team and the client work in one shared project space, with easy access and navigation within and between artifacts.
Everything is connected
- Before: project plans, requirements, and deliverables were coordinated through separate documents and their different versions.
- Now: artifacts are linked directly within the system. You can see deliverables in the project plan and jump from a deliverable straight to the requirements behind it.
Collaboration where the work happens
- Before: discussions took place in Word comments, emails, and meetings, with outcomes recorded separately.
- Now: teams can collaborate directly in the project space through co-editing, comments, and notifications about replies and changes.
And even more: templates, flexible access rights, tags, automatic translations…
The only thing ReqOrder doesn’t do yet is manage projects on its own — though we’re working on that too. But more on that another time.
The difference it makes?
Less time spent updating documents, searching for the latest version, and asking “Where are we with this?”
More transparency. Better alignment. And more time for the work that actually moves the project towards go-live.
Because accelerating time-to-market is also about removing all the small delays that happen when people, information, and decisions are disconnected.
